Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has met with a delegation from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, led by its Chief Executive Officer, Mark Suzman, on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
During the meeting, Shettima expressed gratitude to the Foundation for its consistent support in key areas such as healthcare, agriculture, and financial inclusion. He emphasized Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening the partnership and called for expanded investment to further accelerate national development.
The Vice President praised the philanthropic impact of Bill Gates, noting that if other high-net-worth individuals made even half of his level of investment, the world would be a much better place.
“We have in the Gates Foundation a partner that we trust and believe in,” Shettima affirmed, while reiterating Nigeria’s readiness to deepen collaborations that will deliver tangible benefits for its citizens.
