Bayelsa Governor Meets African Diaspora Delegation on Development Partnership

Yenagoa, Bayelsa State — The Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has expressed the state government’s readiness to partner with the State of Africa in Diaspora (SOAD) on key developmental initiatives aimed at transforming the state’s economy and infrastructure.

Governor Diri made the remarks when he received a delegation from SOAD led by its Prime Minister, His Excellency Dr. Louise-George Tin, at the Government House, Yenagoa.

The meeting focused on potential collaborations in healthcare, airport expansion, smart city development, and other projects designed to boost Bayelsa’s socio-economic growth.

Governor Diri welcomed the delegation warmly, noting that Bayelsa was proud to be the first Nigerian state to host the organization for such partnership discussions.

“On behalf of the good people of Bayelsa State, I heartily welcome you. We are aware of the remarkable work you have been doing across Africa, and we are glad that Bayelsa is your first point of call in Nigeria for partnership,” the governor stated.

He assured the visiting delegation of his administration’s full commitment to supporting initiatives that promote innovation, investment, and sustainable development.

The Prime Minister of SOAD, Dr. Tin, highlighted the group’s commitment to uniting Africans globally through economic cooperation, knowledge exchange, and infrastructural development.

Present at the meeting were key state officials, including Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Michael Ogbere, Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Nimibofa Ayawei, Chief of Staff, Dr. Peter Akpe, Deputy Chief of Staff, Mr. Irorodamie Komonibo, and Commissioners Hon. Ebiwou Koku-Obiyai and Mrs. Faith Zibs-Godwin.
