Yenagoa, Bayelsa State — Newly recruited lawyers in the Bayelsa State Ministry of Justice have been urged to uphold the principles of diligence, discipline, and excellence in advancing the administration of justice in the state.
The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Biriyai Dambo, SAN, gave the charge during his first official meeting with the new legal officers at the Ministry’s Conference Hall in Yenagoa.
Addressing the young lawyers, Mr. Dambo emphasized the importance of professionalism and meticulous attention to duty, describing them as essential to achieving the state government’s vision of an efficient, transparent, and credible justice system.
“As lawyers serving the public, you must demonstrate discipline, diligence, and integrity in all your duties. Productivity and professionalism are not optional — they define the kind of justice system we must uphold in Bayelsa State,” he said.
He further reminded them that the legal profession rests on integrity, competence, and commitment, urging them to make excellence their guiding principle.
In her remarks, the Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Iyobosa Apulu, Esq., advised the lawyers to distinguish themselves through hard work and consistency, stressing that reliability and dedication would earn them trust and respect in the service.
Directors and Heads of Departments in the Ministry were also present at the meeting, where they welcomed the new recruits and pledged mentorship support to help them succeed in their professional journey.
