In a significant diplomatic engagement aimed at enhancing cultural and economic cooperation, the Honourable Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Barr. Hannatu Musa Musawa, has received His Excellency Salem Saeed Musabbeh Al Mahyoubi Al Shamsi, the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Nigeria.

The courtesy visit, held in Abuja, focused on deepening bilateral relations through the establishment of new frameworks for cultural and tourism collaboration between both nations. Central to the discussion was the proposed Nigeria–UAE Cultural and Tourism Exchange initiative, which seeks to foster creative industry investments and mutual growth opportunities across both countries.

According to the Ministry, the engagement also advanced talks on a forthcoming Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will formalize cooperation in arts, culture, tourism, and the broader creative economy.

She noted that such collaborations would not only boost Nigeria’s creative potential but also attract foreign investment and cultural exposure.

On his part, Ambassador Al Shamsi reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to strengthening ties with Nigeria, describing the country as a key partner in Africa’s cultural and creative landscape. Both parties expressed optimism that their collaboration will promote cultural diplomacy, enhance people-to-people exchanges, and advance sustainable development goals through shared creativity and innovation.
