The Anambra State Police Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc, MNIPS, PhD, has been widely commended by stakeholders, traditional institutions, and community leaders for its effective and professional security management during the successful celebration of the 2025 Imoka Festival in Awka.
The annual festival, a significant cultural event in the State’s calendar, concluded without any recorded incidents of violence, cultism, or public disorder. This feat was achieved through the Command’s strategic deployment of joint security teams, enhanced intelligence gathering, and strong community engagement initiatives.
Speaking on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Ezekiel Ibrahim, expressed appreciation to the people of Awka and the festival organisers for their cooperation, discipline, and observance of law and order throughout the celebration.
CP Orutugu further assured the public of the Command’s continued commitment to safeguarding all cultural, religious, and social events across the State. He emphasized the importance of public support, trust-building, and timely information sharing in sustaining peace and security.
The Commissioner reiterated that the Command will continue to adopt inclusive and community-driven policing approaches that promote cultural preservation, peaceful coexistence, and the protection of the fundamental rights of all residents.
