The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, has congratulated 1,020 officers of the command recently elevated to various ranks, charging them to maintain high standards of professionalism, discipline, and effective service delivery.
The decoration ceremony, held on Monday, August 4, 2025, at the Conference Hall of the Police Officers' Mess, Bompai, Kano, was attended by top dignitaries, traditional leaders, family members, and senior officers from the force.
The promotions, approved by the Police Service Commission on the recommendation of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, reflect the administration’s commitment to improving police welfare and addressing rank stagnation across the force.
Breakdown of Promotions:
Umar Ahmed Chuso, former DCP (Department of Operations), was earlier decorated in Abuja with the rank of Commissioner of Police (CP).
Fudaiku Sani Kura, Area Commander, Wudil Area Command, was decorated as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
Officers promoted to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) include Celestine Chika Ugwuddoh, Mansur A. Idris (CP’s Surveillance Team), Mohammed Gwarzo Mani (DPO, Filin Hockey Division), Musa Hadi (DPO, Ja’oji Division), and the DPO of Minjibir Division.
119 Inspectors promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Police II (ASP II)
490 Sergeants promoted to Inspectors
400 Corporals promoted to Sergeants
5 Constables promoted to Corporals
While addressing the officers, CP Bakori praised their commitment to duty and thanked the IGP and the Police Service Commission for their continuous support and vision in enhancing personnel development.
> “This celebration is not only to mark your elevation but to remind you of the increased responsibilities that come with these new ranks,” CP Bakori said. “You must continue to serve with honour, integrity, and in accordance with the rule of law. The IGP’s administration has eliminated promotion stagnation, and it’s now your duty to reciprocate this goodwill with dedication.”
He also commended the families of the officers for their unwavering support, which he described as a critical pillar in the officers’ successful careers.
Vote of Thanks from Newly Promoted Officer
In his response, DCP Fudaiku Sani Kura, speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the IGP, Police Service Commission, and the Kano State CP for their roles in facilitating the promotions.
> “We pledge to continue to serve with loyalty and professionalism. We acknowledge the leadership of the IGP, the fairness of the PSC, and the continuous support from the CP. We also deeply appreciate the love and encouragement from our families, friends, and colleagues,” he said.
CP Lectures Senior Officers on Ethics and Conduct
In a follow-up session, CP Bakori held a lecture with supervising officers, including Area Commanders, DPOs, Sectional Heads, and Tactical Commanders. He emphasized the importance of upholding ethical standards, transparency, and strict adherence to the Force’s social media policy regarding the sharing of information.
He reminded officers of their duty to support the IGP’s vision of delivering police services that respect human rights and promote the rule of law.
