Nigeria’s student-athletes are flying the green and white high at the inaugural African School Games in Algiers, Algeria — delivering incredible performances, breaking personal bests, and collecting medals with style and unity.
🌟 Double Podium Glory in Girls' 200m
Sprint sensation Miracle Oluebube Ezechukwu stormed to GOLD in the Girls' 200m, clocking a stunning Personal Best time of 23.40 seconds to become the African Schools 200m Champion. In a brilliant 1-2 finish for Nigeria, her schoolmate Chigozie Rosemary Nwankwo clinched the SILVER in 24.04 seconds.
This result comes just days after Nwankwo had claimed Gold in the Girls' 100m, with Ezechukwu finishing second — a testament to the healthy rivalry and depth of talent Nigeria has on display.
> 🇳🇬 Same duo, swapped medals — but Nigeria remains on top.
🏃♀️ Medley Relay Magic
The unstoppable pair of Miracle and Chigozie joined forces with teammates Eniololobo Rebecca and Jecinter Lawrence Andrew in the Girls' Medley Relay, once again bringing home GOLD with a commanding and unified performance.
🥈 Boys Bring the Fire
In the Boys’ 200m, Perfect Faye dazzled with a powerful run to claim Silver, while Mohammed Jimoh soared to Silver in the Boys' High Jump — showcasing Nigeria’s all-round athletic strength.
Both athletes later teamed up with Emmanuel Akolo and Jesulayomi Ogundijo in the Boys' Medley Relay, putting up an impressive performance that earned Nigeria yet another Silver.
🇳🇬 Leadership and Support from the Top
The student-athletes were cheered on throughout the competition by the Director-General of the National Sports Commission, Hon. Bukola Olopade, who was fully present in Algiers, offering unwavering support and encouragement from the sidelines.
> “These are not just athletes — they are Nigeria’s future stars. Their discipline, teamwork, and resilience have made the nation proud,”
