AWKA – In a powerful display of unity and civic responsibility, youths from across Anambra State staged a symbolic Walk for Peace, taking a bold stand against the rising tide of violent crime in the region.
Far beyond a mere procession or rally, the walk served as a collective outcry against insecurity, criminality, and violence that has plagued parts of the South-East. The event also doubled as a show of solidarity with the Nigeria Police and other security agencies, reinforcing a community-wide resolve to restore peace.
Participants walked under the theme “Enough is Enough”, sending a resounding message to criminal elements that Anambra will no longer remain silent or passive in the face of insecurity.
> “This is more than just a march. It’s a declaration that the youths of Anambra are ready to take ownership of the peace and safety of their communities,” one of the organisers remarked.
The event drew attention from civil society groups, security personnel, local leaders, and media observers, who all hailed the initiative as a model for community engagement and grassroots activism in the fight against crime.
Among the highlights was a pledge by participants to strengthen community vigilance, cooperate with law enforcement, and promote peaceful coexistence across the state.
> “The time has come for unity, vigilance, and community-driven action for a safer Anambra,” one youth leader stated during the closing remarks.
The Walk for Peace serves as a timely reminder that sustainable security requires partnerships between citizens and institutions, and that the fight against violent crime must begin at the grassroots.
