In a bold stride towards enhancing volunteer synergy and promoting road safety ideals in Nigeria, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) today presided over the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the Special Marshals at the FRSC National Headquarters in Abuja.

The high-level engagement, which brought together the National Coordinator and executive members of the Special Marshals, underscores the Corps’ unwavering commitment to fostering structured volunteerism and boosting strategic collaboration among road safety stakeholders.

During the meeting, the Corps Marshal emphasized the critical role Special Marshals play in supporting the FRSC’s mandate, particularly in public education, traffic management, and accident prevention. He reaffirmed the Corps’ focus on enhancing operational synergy between regular marshals and volunteer officers to ensure safer highways nationwide.

“This NEC meeting is not just a statutory gathering,” the Corps Marshal noted, “but a reaffirmation of our collective responsibility to make Nigerian roads safer for all users. We will continue to harness the strength of our volunteers in building a culture of safety and responsibility on our roads.”

The deliberations also covered strategic planning for upcoming nationwide safety campaigns, volunteer training programs, and enhanced engagement models to strengthen the Corps' grassroots impact.

With Nigeria’s road traffic challenges growing amid urban expansion and increasing vehicle density, the FRSC’s efforts—particularly through its volunteer arm—remain critical to reducing road crashes and saving lives.
