Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has expressed profound grief over the death of Diplomat Zipporah Kela, a distinguished officer of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who until her passing was on special assignment at the State House, Presidential Villa, Abuja.

In a heartfelt tribute, the Governor described her demise as a deeply painful loss—not only to her immediate family and community, but also to Gombe State, the nation’s diplomatic service, and Nigeria as a whole.

Born in Tanglang, Billiri Local Government Area of Gombe State, Ms. Kela was widely respected for her professionalism and diplomatic excellence. She had served the nation with distinction at Nigeria’s embassies in Banjul, The Gambia, and Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she played key roles in strengthening Nigeria’s bilateral relations abroad.

“Diplomat Zipporah died in her prime, with so much promise ahead of her,” Governor Inuwa Yahaya said. “She was a rising star in the Nigerian Foreign Service and a proud ambassador of Gombe State. Her death is a tragic interruption of a career marked by dedication, intellect, and a passion for national service.”

The Governor extended his condolences to her father, Professor S. L. Kela, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Kashere, as well as to her colleagues at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the State House.

He offered prayers for the peaceful repose of her soul and asked that God grant her family the strength to bear the loss and find comfort during this period of mourning.
