As part of ongoing efforts to reform institutional infrastructure and enhance the welfare of police personnel, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, today commissioned over 300 newly constructed residential units and modern support facilities in Bompai and Zaria Road, Kano State.
The landmark event is a reflection of the IGP’s commitment to modernizing police accommodation, improving morale, and strengthening the operational efficiency of the Nigeria Police Force.
The commissioning ceremony attracted a host of dignitaries, including the Executive Governor of Kano State, His Excellency Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, who applauded the initiative as a strategic investment in national security and personnel welfare.
Also in attendance were:
Architect Bashir Mudi, Executive Director of VLAAR Homes Limited and the project contractor;
Brigadier General AM Tukur, Commander, 3 Brigade Nigerian Army, Kano;
Mr. Hakeem Ogunniran, Executive Consultant, NPFPDCC Ltd.;
DIG Dan Mallam Mohammed (rtd), Managing Director of NPFPDCC Ltd., accompanied by his team.
The IGP noted that providing decent living conditions for officers is not only a matter of welfare but also a critical component of professional policing and national development.
> “This initiative demonstrates our resolve to make the Nigeria Police Force a modern, efficient, and people-centered institution,” IGP Egbetokun said.
He reiterated his administration’s focus on long-term institutional reform, including housing, training, and operational capacity building, while also calling on stakeholders to continue supporting security sector transformation.
The residential units, built to modern standards, are equipped with essential infrastructure and designed to foster a conducive living and working environment for officers and their families.
