JUST IN: Super Falcons Star Oluwatosin Demehin Honoured With Chieftaincy Title "Yeye Akeweje Ilaji" in Bariga

Nigerian football star and Super Falcons defender, Oluwatosin Demehin, has been honoured with a prestigious chieftaincy title by the Oba of Bariga, His Royal Majesty High Chief Kayode Aiyetiwa.

Demehin, who also plies her trade with Galatasaray Women's Football Club in Turkey, was officially conferred with the title "Yeye Akeweje Ilaji", in recognition of her outstanding contributions to sports, youth inspiration, and community development.

The colourful ceremony held in Bariga witnessed the presence of traditional rulers, community stakeholders, football enthusiasts, and supporters who gathered to celebrate the homegrown talent making waves on the international stage.

> “Oluwatosin is not just a footballer; she is a role model, a symbol of hope and excellence for the young generation in Ilaji and Bariga at large,” the Oba stated during the conferment ceremony.

 

The newly decorated Yeye Akeweje Ilaji expressed gratitude for the honour and pledged to continue using her platform to promote youth empowerment and community advancement.

> “This title means a lot to me. It is a reminder that no matter where we go, our roots are important. I will continue to give my best to Nigeria, to football, and to my people,” Demehin said while addressing the crowd.

 

The chieftaincy recognition marks a significant milestone in her career, not just as a top-tier athlete but as a respected figure within her local heritage.
