NAF Partners Nigeria Customs for Specialised Cross-Training on New Clearing Procedures

In a strategic effort to boost inter-agency collaboration and improve operational logistics, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), through its 643 Equipment Supply Depot (ESD), has teamed up with the Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) for a specialised cross-training programme.

The training, held at the ICT Training Centre of the Area Command, involved 3 officers and 11 airmen from the Depot. It focused on the newly introduced NCS clearing procedures and featured hands-on practice with the recently launched NCS B’ODOGWU portal, designed to streamline customs operations.

According to officials, the interactive session helped bridge knowledge gaps, resolve long-standing bottlenecks in logistics clearing, and opened new avenues for operational synergy between NAF and NCS. Both agencies are expected to benefit from faster, more transparent, and more efficient cargo handling, vital for sustaining mission readiness and national security.

Commenting on the initiative, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, said:

“This collaboration with the Nigeria Customs Service is a clear example of how deliberate training and mission-oriented force development can directly improve operational effectiveness. Together, we are building the capacity to deliver with precision, speed, and accountability.”

With these enhanced capabilities, the 643 ESD is now better positioned to provide optimal support to NAF operations, even with limited manpower resources.
