The Nigeria Police Force has achieved a major breakthrough in the global fight against organized crime with the arrest and repatriation of a notorious Chinese fugitive, Mr. Dai Qisheng.
Dai, a wanted gang leader in Guizhou Province, China, fled his home country in 2024 after authorities issued a warrant for his arrest over violent organized crimes. He sought refuge in Nigeria, but his hideout was uncovered by operatives of INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja.
The fugitive was tracked, placed under surveillance, and eventually arrested in Abuja on 8th August 2025. One week later, on 15th August 2025, he was repatriated to Beijing under an INTERPOL-led police-to-police cooperation involving NCB Beijing and the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria.
Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, described the operation as a clear signal that Nigeria will never be a safe haven for international criminals. He emphasized that the Police Force remains committed to strengthening global alliances, intelligence-sharing, and cross-border collaboration in tackling transnational crime.
“This operation reaffirms our resolve to ensure fugitives have nowhere to hide,” the IGP declared, noting that the successful repatriation highlights the power of strong international partnerships.
The landmark operation adds to Nigeria’s growing reputation as a key player in global law enforcement cooperation.
