Nigeria to Host Africa’s Largest Defence Exhibition as DICON Signs Strategic MoU with UK Firm

The Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) has sealed a landmark partnership during the ongoing African Chiefs of Defence Staff Summit 2025 at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja.

At the event, Major General BI Alaya, Director General of DICON, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with dmg Events, a UK-based company represented by Nick Ornstien, to co-host the first-ever International Defence Exhibition in Lagos, Nigeria.

The exhibition, tagged AFRIDEX 2026, is scheduled to take place from 26 to 29 October 2026. Co-hosted by DICON and dmg Events—renowned globally for organising world-class exhibitions—the event will showcase cutting-edge defence technologies while enhancing Nigeria’s defence industry and capabilities.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by the Chief of Defence Staff, General CG Musa, OFR, alongside several African Chiefs of Defence Staff, defence attachés, and senior military officials from across the continent.

Billed as Africa’s premier defence and security platform, AFRIDEX 2026 is set to bring together global leaders, innovators, policymakers, and defence manufacturers to foster collaboration, technology transfer, and strategic partnerships.

The exhibition will feature armoured vehicles, aircraft, naval vessels, weapons, drones, ammunition, and other advanced systems from both local and international companies. It will also provide a vital platform for Nigerian and African defence manufacturers to demonstrate their capabilities, strengthen continental security cooperation, and contribute to economic growth.

Expected to be the largest defence and security exhibition in Africa, AFRIDEX 2026 aims to inspire innovation, drive critical development in the defence sector, and shape the future of Africa’s security landscape.
