The Anambra State Police Command has secured crucial evidence against three suspects involved in separate defilement incidents across Eziowele, Oba, and Ogidi Divisions. The cases, which have drawn significant public concern, involve the defilement of minors aged between five and fourteen.
According to the Command, investigations revealed that one suspect assaulted a young girl while she visited his shop for hairdressing, another allegedly committed the act at the victim’s grandmother’s home, and a third suspect allegedly defiled a 13-year-old girl with mental challenges in her residence. All suspects were promptly arrested and remain in police custody, with charges scheduled to be filed in court on Wednesday, 3rd September 2025.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, condemned the acts and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to diligent prosecution, ensuring justice for the victims. He further urged parents, guardians, and community leaders to maintain vigilance and immediately report any incidents of sexual or gender-based violence to the nearest police station.
