Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has expressed delight over the return of prominent Tangale-Waja politician and businessman, Hon. Jerry Joseph Damara, to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Damara, accompanied by a powerful delegation from Gombe South, presented his new APC membership card at Government House, signaling a significant political shift in the region. Governor Yahaya described the event as a historic moment for both APC in Gombe State and the party nationally.

“I am very happy to see this large group of politicians from Tangale-Waja and Gombe State united at one point,” the Governor said, highlighting that the return of Damara along with three former deputy governors, four local government leaders, four state representatives, and commissioners represents a major victory for the party in the region.

Governor Yahaya also emphasized that such unity and friendship would help overcome political challenges in Gombe South. He used the occasion to showcase his administration’s achievements, including infrastructure developments such as the Balanga North and Tula-Yiri road projects, improvements to hospitals, and other social services across the region. He further commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his economic policies, which he said are critical to addressing long-term development challenges in Nigeria.

Hon. Jerry Joseph Damara explained that his return to APC was motivated by the tangible development initiatives of Governor Yahaya’s administration, which have benefited all parts of the state regardless of political differences. “From today, my loyalty is back to the Governor and his government. Nothing will stop the development he is leading, and I will not be left behind,” Damara affirmed.

The delegation accompanying Damara included former deputy governors Charles Iliya and Ta’anda Rubainu, Senator Joshua Lidani, local government leaders from Shongom, Kaltungo, Billiri, and Balanga, former state representatives, House of Assembly members, commissioners, and senior party officials. They collectively pledged full support for APC as the future of their people, signaling a new political era in Gombe South.

The event underscores APC’s growing influence in the state and reflects a strategic consolidation of political support ahead of future elections, highlighting the impact of developmental achievements on party loyalty and regional politics.
