
H.E. Chief Barr. (Dr.) Chioma Uzodimma, FIMC, CMC, First Lady of Imo State, has highlighted the importance of literacy as a driver of social and economic growth in celebration of International Literacy Day.
In her statement, the First Lady emphasized that literacy goes beyond reading and writing, serving as a tool to think critically, find reliable information, and navigate complex digital environments. This year’s theme, “Promoting Literacy in the Digital Era,” underscores the role of digital literacy in helping people access, understand, evaluate, create, communicate, and engage with online content safely.
H.E. Uzodimma stressed that literacy is the foundation of progress, empowering individuals to make informed decisions and contribute meaningfully to their communities. She called on stakeholders to ensure that every child and adult in Imo State has the opportunity to learn, aiming toward achieving 100% literacy for a better future.
The First Lady is also the Founder of the GoodHope Women Flourish Initiative and Secretary of the Renewed Hope Initiative, using her platforms to promote education and community empowerment across Imo State.
