
In a decisive move to promote climate sustainability and environmental consciousness, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, First Lady of Nigeria and National Chairman of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), unveiled the RHI Green Challenge during the RHI 3rd Quarter High-Level Meeting held on September 10, 2025, at the State House, Abuja. The competition, themed “Go Green Today for a Greener Tomorrow”, aims to encourage tree planting, environmental cleanliness, and sustainable practices nationwide.
The unveiling ceremony was attended by members of the RHI Governing Council, State First Ladies, and RHI State Coordinators. The initiative offers a grand prize of ₦20 million for the best household, along with additional rewards for outstanding communities and states demonstrating exceptional commitment to environmental stewardship.
Enugu State was recognized as the Model Green State, receiving a ₦100 million cheque in acknowledgment of its exemplary leadership in promoting environmental cleanliness and sustainability.
The RHI Green Challenge reinforces Nigeria’s collective commitment to fostering a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable environment for present and future generations. The initiative aligns with global climate action goals and encourages active citizen participation in building a sustainable nation.
