The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, is set to commission two newly completed roads and flag-off construction of 12 additional roads this Thursday, alongside the expansion of the Light-Up Abuja Programme, which will see solar lighting installed in major areas across the Federal Capital City and expressways.
The Minister will formally commission the access roads in Sector Centre B by Dakibiyu District, as well as the newly completed Roads ILS 11 (Esther Bali Street) and MAR 24 (Kez Udezue Street) in Mabushi District. Between Thursday, September 18, 2025, and Thursday, October 16, 2025, 14 new projects will be flagged-off, including extensive roadworks, provision of hybrid solar lighting in key districts such as Maitama, Asokoro, Wuse, Garki, Mabushi, Jabi, and the Airport Expressway.
Key projects include full development of Arterial Road N1 from Wuye District to Ring Road II, construction of Northern Parkway linking Ring Road II to Ring Road III, access roads to the Mabushi Bus Terminal and Renewed Hope Cities and Estates project, and a bypass connecting Bill Clinton Drive to Tunga Madaki Settlement with a four-span bridge. Additional works cover road construction to the FCT Fire Service Station, erosion control in Kaura District with three-span bridges, transit ways connecting Central Area with Wuse District, and the design and construction of Mohammed Isa Road Extension in Asokoro.
The initiative also includes rehabilitation of the 15km old Keffi Road from Kado Village to Dei-Dei Junction, development of Collector Road CN2 (Emmanuel I. Ogala Street) from Arterial N16 to N20 in Katampe, and the construction of residences for Heads of Courts, including the President of the Court of Appeal, Chief Judges of the Federal and FCT High Courts, and President of the Industrial Court.
This week’s flag-offs build on recent projects initiated by the FCT Minister, including expansion of water supply to satellite towns in Bwari and Karu, construction of a multi-purpose sports centre in Kafe, a new Magistrate Court complex in Jabi, and emergency reconstruction of Karu road with expanded rehabilitation coverage.
The comprehensive programme underscores the FCT Minister’s commitment to infrastructure development, urban modernization, and the provision of critical amenities across Abuja.
