Content creator Folorunsho Olayinka, popularly known as Finest, has disclosed that the late comedian Adetola Samad, also known as Sanku, was still indebted to the tune of ₦13 million on the 2012 Lexus RX 350 SUV involved in his fatal accident. Finest, who acted as a guarantor for Sanku's vehicle purchase, revealed that the comedian had acquired the SUV for ₦25.4 million, with an initial payment of ₦7 million made to JJ Motors Empire and Services Limited on June 5, 2025. Subsequent instalments brought the total paid to ₦12.28 million, leaving an outstanding balance of approximately ₦13 million at the time of Sanku's death.
In a TikTok livestream, Finest emphasized his role as a guarantor, stating, "I was only a guarantor because the dealer knew me. I didn’t force him to buy the car. After paying the initial deposit, he continued with instalments. So, what would be my gain in killing someone who still owed about ₦13 million under my guarantee?" He also recounted sending his siblings and colleagues to the accident scene and hospital, providing financial assistance for their treatment due to alleged delays in medical attention.
Contradicting Finest's account, an anonymous close friend of Sanku alleged that the comedian was pressured to return the Lexus SUV for a more affordable Nigerian-used Toyota Venza due to an outstanding balance of ₦2.3 million. A leaked WhatsApp voice note featured Sanku lamenting repeated calls from the dealer urging him to return the car, with his uncle advising against it to avoid potential deceit.
Sanku tragically lost his life in a car accident along Ogbomoso Road in Oyo State on September 2, 2025. Prior to his demise, he had shared photographs of the Lexus on his TikTok page, expressing gratitude and tagging Finest as the dealer.
