Badagry-born policy advocate and young development leader, Olubukola Miriam Agemo, has been awarded the highly competitive Chevening Scholarship, the United Kingdom government’s flagship fully funded award for emerging global leaders.

Agemo, currently serving as Director for Government Affairs at the Badagry Chamber of Commerce and Trade Facilitation Liaison at the United Nations (International Trade Center), is among only 39 scholars selected globally this year from over 102,000 applicants. She will pursue a Master’s in Public Policy in London to advance her work in economic inclusion, trade policy reforms, and cross-border advocacy.

The Chevening network is renowned for producing transformational leaders worldwide, including former heads of state and government, as well as prominent Nigerian figures such as Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, John Momoh, and the late Herbert Wigwe. Agemo’s selection highlights Badagry on the global map of leadership and influence.

Her achievement has been celebrated as a proud moment for Badagry and a testament to her dedication to empowering women, supporting marginalized communities, and driving trade reforms across West Africa.
