The Lagos State Registration Agency (LASRRA) held a pivotal meeting with the Lagos State Council of Tradesmen and Artisans (LASCOTA) on Tuesday at the Adeyemi-Bero Auditorium, Ikeja. The event, themed “One Identity, One Lagos – Building Stronger Futures for Our Tradesmen and Artisans,” attracted hundreds of participants and focused on fostering unity, empowerment, and professional growth within Lagos’ trades and artisan sectors.

In her welcome address, LASRRA General Manager Mrs. Bilikiss Adebiyi-Abiola highlighted the importance of partnerships between the government and the trades and artisan communities. She noted that skilled tradespeople are central to Lagos’ development and emphasised the agency’s commitment to equipping them with tools, knowledge, and connections to succeed.

The keynote lecture was delivered by Mr. Jide Agbaje, CEO of Identiko Integrated Solutions, a LASRRA partner. Represented by Mr. Bamikole Ajayi, Lead of the Business Development Department, Agbaje praised Lagos’ tradesmen and artisans as “the spine, the muscles, and the heartbeat of this great megacity.” He called for greater unity and collaboration among tradespeople, stressing that collective identity is key to building a stronger, more resilient workforce.

Participants were educated on the importance of proper registration to access government benefits, contracts, healthcare, and educational programs. Officials from the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) and Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) were also present to highlight the advantages of being part of LASRRA’s official database.

The event concluded on a celebratory note with a “Game of Luck,” where several participants won Ankara fabrics as a token of appreciation for their contributions to Lagos’ economy and culture.

Dignitaries in attendance included Hon. Seyi Lawal, Chairman of the House Committee on Science and Technology; Engr. (Mrs.) Ibilola Kasunmu, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology (MIST); Mr. Olalekan Balogun, Special Adviser to the Governor on Budget and Planning; and Mr. Akin Kehinde, Card Project Manager, among others.

LASRRA reiterated its commitment to creating a regulated, organised environment for tradesmen and artisans, ensuring their recognition and enabling access to government programmes aimed at promoting growth and welfare.
