Her Excellency, Mrs. Nkechinyere Mbah, Wife of the Governor of Enugu State, has received a delegation from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), led by Zonal Commander Mrs. Callista Mmeka, for an advocacy meeting focused on combating drug abuse. The discussions highlighted ongoing challenges and stressed the importance of combining prevention efforts with rehabilitation to achieve lasting change.

Mrs. Mbah emphasized that awareness campaigns and sensitization initiatives can help prevent young people from falling into the trap of drug use, while those already affected require compassion, treatment, and structured pathways for reintegration into society. She described striking this balance as essential for sustainable progress in the fight against drug abuse.

During the visit, Mrs. Mbah was honored as a WADA (War Against Drug Abuse) Ambassador, a recognition she pledged to uphold by actively supporting initiatives that prevent drug abuse and aid recovery. She expressed optimism about what can be achieved through collaboration with NDLEA and other stakeholders.

The First Lady underscored that with consistent investment in education, advocacy, and rehabilitation programs, it is possible to reclaim lives, rebuild families, and strengthen communities. “This is a journey we must all take seriously, for the future of our young people depends on it,” she said.
