ICAN PRESIDENT COMMENDS JIGAWA’S TRACK RECORD IN ACCOUNTABILITY

The President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Mallam Haruna Nma Yahaya, mni, Ph.D., FCA, paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Jigawa State, His Excellency Mallam Umar A. Namadi, FCA, in recognition of the state’s exemplary performance in governance and accountability.

During the visit, Mallam Yahaya lauded Governor Namadi for his consistent support of ICAN and for appointing members of the Institute to key positions across the state. He also highlighted Jigawa’s outstanding ranking on the ICAN Accountability Index, where the state has consistently emerged among Nigeria’s top performers, earning recognition as an ICAN-AI Ambassador.

In response, Governor Namadi congratulated Mallam Yahaya on his emergence as ICAN President, describing it as a testament to his resilience and excellence. He reaffirmed Jigawa State’s commitment to professionalism in governance, noting that ICAN members were appointed to strategic roles due to their expertise, capacity for accountability, and ability to enhance public service delivery.

The visit further cemented ICAN’s acknowledgment of Jigawa State as a model of transparency and fiscal discipline in Nigeria.
