
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has paid glowing tribute to the late Audu Innocent Ogbeh, former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, recognizing his remarkable contributions to national development.
The tribute was delivered by Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Sen. George Akume, CON, at the funeral service of the septuagenarian in Benue State. Speaking on behalf of the President, Akume described the late minister as a patriot and statesman whose selfless service left an enduring impact on Nigeria’s growth.
“The President profoundly appreciates the contributions of late Audu Ogbeh to the country’s development in various capacities—as Minister, Special Adviser, National Chairman of the PDP, and in managing the committee that facilitated the emergence of the APC, which has been in power since 2015,” Akume said.
He urged the people of Benue not to grieve excessively, emphasizing that Ogbeh lived a fulfilled life marked by patriotic service and achievements worthy of emulation.
At the service, Adegbeope Ogbeh, son of the late minister, expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support the family received following his father’s passing. He highlighted his father’s exemplary life, stating that it is their desire to carry forward his sterling legacies.
The funeral service was attended by top government officials, including the Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Engr. Prof. Joseph Terlumun Utsev, former Minister of Labour and Productivity, Dr. Chris Ngige, Senator representing Benue North-West, Dr. Titus Tartenger Zam, and the Managing Director of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, Dr. Akutah Pius Ukeyima, alongside members of the National Assembly, dignitaries from across the country, and numerous well-wishers.
The service highlighted Ogbeh’s lifelong dedication to public service and his enduring influence on Nigeria’s political and developmental landscape.
