Plateau State took center stage in Nigeria’s peace and security narrative as the Security & Peace Awards 2025 celebrated outstanding leadership and officially launched the Peace & Security Magazine. Hosted by the First Samaritan Love Foundation at the Crispan Hotel and Suites in Jos, the high-profile event sent a powerful message of unity, resilience, and collaboration.

The Executive Director of the foundation, Takalis Dandaura Shishi, highlighted the recognition of Dr. Solomon Dawal Kwande, Director General of the Plateau State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (PLASCHEMA), who was named Health Security Man of the Year 2025. The award acknowledged Dr. Kwande’s exemplary leadership in expanding the state’s social health insurance scheme, strengthening healthcare systems, and making affordable healthcare accessible, linking robust health services directly to community stability and peace.

Accepting the honor, Dr. Kwande dedicated the award to the people of Plateau, emphasizing that true health security serves as a foundation for hope, resilience, and sustainable peace. His recognition underscores the vital role of PLASCHEMA in safeguarding citizen well-being and highlights how effective healthcare contributes to broader societal stability.

The event also celebrated Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, for his sustained commitment to maintaining the state’s peaceful identity. Leaders from the military, fire service, customs, and immigration were recognized, reinforcing the principle that national safety and security are shared responsibilities.

Attendees and community representatives praised the initiative, describing it as a significant step toward acknowledging the contributions of those working to promote peace and stability. Observers noted that highlighting health leadership alongside traditional security roles reinforces the connection between societal well-being and peace. Many commended the foundation for creating a platform that not only recognizes outstanding individuals but also encourages broader community engagement in peacebuilding efforts.

The launch of the Peace & Security Magazine at the event reflects a renewed dedication to documenting and celebrating the work of peacebuilders, patriots, and institutions across Nigeria. Held in Jos, a city synonymous with the pursuit of harmony, the awards and launch underscored the importance of cohesion, fairness, and collaborative efforts in ensuring stability and enhancing community resilience nationwide.
