The Anambra State Police Command has rescued a kidnapped victim just seven hours after he was abducted by armed criminals at Umuru Village, Nnobi. The victim was released unharmed following a swift and coordinated operation carried out by joint operatives from the Command’s Tactical Team in the early hours of Tuesday, September 30, 2025.
According to the police, the abductors had earlier demanded a ransom of ₦10 million. However, after intelligence-led tactical units were deployed to the Oba/Ojoto axis for aggressive combing of the area, the kidnappers, under pressure, abandoned the victim and fled into nearby bushes. The rescued victim has since been reunited with his family after undergoing debriefing.
Police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed that operatives are currently working on vital leads that may lead to the arrest of the fleeing suspects.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, commended the swift response of the officers and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to combating crime, protecting lives, and safeguarding communities across Anambra State.
