Kaduna — The Kaduna State chapter of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) has commended Governor Uba Sani for approving the implementation of the Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) and the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) for health workers in the state.
The association’s commendation, conveyed in a letter dated September 2, 2025, and signed by the State Chairman, Comrade Ishaku Yakubu, alongside the State Secretary, Comrade Christiana Bawa, described the governor’s move as an act of fairness and magnanimity that has renewed the confidence of nurses in his leadership.
According to the union, the approval demonstrates Governor Sani’s firm commitment to the welfare of health professionals and reflects his alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The decision, they stressed, not only strengthens healthcare delivery but also positions Kaduna as a model for labour-friendly governance at a time when states across the country are grappling with multiple financial challenges.
NANNM further noted that prioritizing the well-being of health workers has boosted morale, enhanced productivity, and created a stronger sense of belonging among the state’s healthcare professionals. The council expressed appreciation for the governor’s foresight, stating that the action underscores the importance of investing in the human capital that drives healthcare services.
Pledging continued loyalty and professionalism, the nurses and midwives assured Governor Sani that they would contribute meaningfully to his administration’s ongoing reforms in the health sector. They also reaffirmed their dedication to providing quality service to the people of Kaduna State, confident that the improved welfare package will translate into better patient care and more efficient health delivery.
