Lagos — The Lagos State Police Command on Tuesday, September 30, arraigned a National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) leader, Shamusideen Oladiti, popularly known as Shameleon, before the Ebute-Meta Magistrate Court in Yaba on charges of alleged murder, conspiracy, and grievous harm.
Oladiti, 55, was brought before the court on a three-count charge linked to incidents that occurred on August 27 and September 17, 2025, within the Lagos Island Magisterial District.
According to the prosecution, Oladiti and others still at large allegedly assaulted two men, Imam Ramon and Omale Samuel, with repeated fist blows. Ramon was rushed to the Lagos Island General Hospital, Marina, where he later died from injuries sustained.
Investigations revealed that the altercation stemmed from a dispute in which Ramon, a dispatch rider, was accused of scratching Oladiti’s vehicle along Tapa Street, Lagos Island. Eyewitnesses told police that the victim was struck multiple times with a helmet and fists by Oladiti and his associates before collapsing.
The offences, the court heard, contravene Sections 223, 411, and 245 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
When the charges were read, Oladiti pleaded not guilty. The Magistrate ordered his remand while awaiting legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
