The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has urged Nigerian youths to adopt a growth-oriented mindset, harness technology—especially the internet—and serve as whistleblowers to combat economic and financial crimes.

Addressing corps members of Batch B, Stream 2, at the NYSC orientation camp in Iyana Ipaja, Lagos, on Thursday, October 2, 2025, Olukoyede emphasized the importance of reporting criminal activities via the EFCC’s Eagle Eye App, the Commission’s official digital fraud reporting platform. “Be goal-oriented. Don’t cover up fraudulent practices around you. Offer useful intelligence to the EFCC. You will find it useful and engaging,” he said.

The EFCC Chairman warned youths to avoid actions that could label them as ex-convicts, noting the long-term consequences: “An ex-convict cannot hold public office, obtain visas easily, or run serious national or international enterprises. Avoid pitfalls that jeopardize your future.”

Olukoyede’s message was reinforced across the country. In Enugu, he urged corps members at the NYSC temporary camp in Udi to use their education and influence to mobilize communities against corruption. “This is how to build a community of anti-corruption fighters and move the nation forward,” he said through Chief Superintendent Bashir Emmanuel Afanda of the Enugu Zonal Directorate.

In Akwa Ibom, Cross River, and Kaduna States, the EFCC Chairman stressed the availability of legitimate means of earning income outside cybercrime. Representatives including DSE Sani Ismail, ASE 1 Abubakar S. Muhammed, and CSE Nana Fatima Abubakar delivered his guidance at local NYSC camps.

Olukoyede encouraged corps members to embrace integrity and hard work, emphasizing: “There is no shortcut to wealth and fame. Lead the way against corruption if you truly want to secure your future.”

The EFCC Chairman’s nationwide campaign highlights the critical role of youth in tackling fraud, internet crimes, and economic offenses, reinforcing the Commission’s commitment to building a safer and more transparent Nigeria. Similar messages were delivered in Ibadan, Kano, Ilorin, Makurdi, Maiduguri, Gombe, Port Harcourt, and other locations nationwide.
