Abuja, Nigeria – A high-level delegation from the Yobe State Government has formally begun participation in the “Leadership Course in Operations Security and Force Protection (4),” a three-day intensive program held at the prestigious Nigerian Army Resource Centre in Asokoro, Abuja.
The delegation, led by General Dahiru Abdulsalam (rtd), Special Adviser on Security Matters to Governor Mai Mala Buni, comprises senior officials responsible for strategic security and operational planning in Yobe State. The course is designed to equip participants with advanced knowledge and practical skills in security leadership, risk assessment, and force protection, enhancing their ability to safeguard communities and critical state infrastructure.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, General Abdulsalam commended Governor Buni for his proactive approach to security governance. “The Governor’s commitment to employing every available tool and expertise to safeguard the people of Yobe State is commendable. This training reflects his administration’s dedication to strengthening the security apparatus across the state,” he said.
He also acknowledged the support of various security agencies, emphasizing that cooperation and coordination between state authorities and federal security forces remain critical for maintaining peace and stability. “Such synergy ensures that security interventions are timely, effective, and well-coordinated,” he added.
The Nigerian Army Resource Centre, widely recognized as a leading institution for military training and strategic capacity building, hosts a range of professional programs aimed at improving leadership, operational management, and force protection capabilities for both military personnel and state security officials. Over the years, the Centre has played a pivotal role in developing security leaders who manage complex threats across Nigeria’s geopolitical landscape.
Past participants of similar programs have benefited from hands-on simulations, scenario-based learning, and workshops led by experienced military and security experts. These initiatives are tailored to address contemporary security challenges, from insurgency and terrorism to civil unrest and critical infrastructure protection.
This current course underscores the Yobe State Government’s commitment to proactive and professional security management. Participants will engage in strategic discussions, practical exercises, and knowledge-sharing sessions designed to improve emergency response, intelligence gathering, and operational oversight.
By investing in the capacity development of its security leadership, Yobe State aims to strengthen its resilience against threats, enhance coordination with federal and regional security agencies, and ensure the safety and well-being of its citizens.
The leadership course is part of a broader initiative by Governor Buni’s administration to leverage training and modern strategies to address evolving security challenges while fostering sustainable peace and stability across the state.
