Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, has underscored the importance of collaboration between subnational governments and development partners such as the World Bank, particularly for states facing security and social challenges. He emphasized that such partnerships ensure targeted investments in education, food security, women empowerment, energy, and infrastructure, driving inclusive growth and stability for vulnerable communities.
The Governor made the remarks during a courtesy visit to the new World Bank Country Director for Nigeria, Mr. Mathew Verghis, at the Bank’s Country Office in Abuja. He welcomed Mr. Verghis to Nigeria and reaffirmed Katsina State’s commitment to strengthening partnerships in critical development areas.
Mr. Verghis commended Katsina’s delivery mechanisms and project implementation, noting that the state recently secured $8 million under the SABER initiative and $12.18 million under TESS. He assured the Governor of enhanced funding and technical support to further strengthen the state’s development agenda.
The two leaders also discussed regional cooperation, agreeing on the importance of harmonized partnerships across the Northwest, which Katsina currently chairs under the Northwest Governors’ Forum.
Governor Radda described the visit as marking a renewed chapter of collaboration and expanded opportunities for the people of Katsina State, emphasizing the state’s readiness to leverage partnerships for sustainable development.
