Governor Senator Douye Diri welcomed the partnership, describing it as a significant step toward leveraging the expertise and resources of the African diaspora for Bayelsa’s development. He emphasized that the agreement reflects a shift in Africa’s narrative—from historical underdevelopment by external forces to a future shaped by Africans themselves. Governor Diri expressed optimism that the collaboration would deliver tangible results before the end of his tenure in 2028, urging all parties to ensure swift and effective implementation.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working closely with diaspora partners, describing them as vital contributors to the state’s progress. The MoU was signed on behalf of the State of Africa in Diaspora by Prime Minister Dr. Louis-Georges Tin, while Governor Diri represented the Bayelsa State Government, marking the beginning of what is expected to be a productive and transformative partnership for the people of Bayelsa.
