The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, arraigned Mrs. Ngozi Olejeme, a former Board Chairman of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), before Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Maitama, Abuja.
Olejeme is facing an eight-count charge bordering on alleged conversion, transfer, procurement, and possession of proceeds of unlawful activities amounting to ₦1 billion.
According to the EFCC, Olejeme, while serving as NSITF Board Chairman in February 2012, allegedly diverted ₦321.6 million into the account of Adin Miles International Ltd at Sterling Bank — funds the agency claims were proceeds of unlawful activity. She was also accused of procuring an associate, Chuka C. Eze, to convert $2 million to naira for payment to the same company.
Upon the charges being read, Olejeme pleaded not guilty.
The EFCC’s counsel, Emenike Mgbemele, requested the court to fix a date for trial, stating the Commission’s readiness to present 14 witnesses. However, defense counsel, Emeka Ogboguo (SAN), applied for bail on behalf of the defendant.
Justice Nwite granted a temporary release of the defendant to her lawyer and adjourned the matter to November 17, 2025, for the hearing of the bail application.
