Transport operators and stakeholders across northern Nigeria have expressed renewed optimism about the timely completion of the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano expressway, following the intervention of Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Kaduna State Chairman of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Hon. Adamu Zubairu Jalaludeen, lauded Governor Sani for his strategic engagement with the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, aimed at fast-tracking the delivery of the critical infrastructure project.

Jalaludeen, who also serves as RTEAN’s North-West Vice President, described the highway as a major economic artery linking the North-West and North-East regions—essential for trade, commerce, and social mobility. He noted that Governor Sani’s proactive leadership and direct involvement with federal authorities had restored confidence among transport operators and other stakeholders in the sector.

Governor Sani, on Friday, met with Engr. Umahi to review ongoing work on the Abuja–Jere–Kaduna section of the expressway, as part of a broader effort to strengthen intergovernmental collaboration and ensure timely project completion.

During the meeting, discussions focused on accelerating construction work while maintaining quality standards. Governor Sani emphasized the project’s national importance, describing it as an “economic corridor” that connects people, markets, and opportunities across northern Nigeria. He further aligned the project with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes infrastructure modernization and regional integration.

In response, Minister Umahi praised the governor’s commitment and reaffirmed the Federal Government’s determination to complete the project on schedule. He disclosed that contractors have been instructed to operate double shifts to hasten delivery, adding that the use of durable concrete pavement technology would enhance the road’s longevity and minimize future maintenance costs.
