The Osun State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, has strongly denied allegations by a human rights group claiming he was once granted administrative bail under the administration of former Governor Rauf Aregbesola.

Reacting to the report credited to the Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice (CHRSJ), Alimi dismissed the claim as baseless, mischievous, and politically motivated, insisting it was a deliberate attempt to malign his reputation and distort facts.

The CHRSJ had alleged that Alimi, alongside others, was involved in diverting local government allocations between January 2011 and December 2014, following what it described as the illegal suspension of the democratic structure in the council areas of Osun State — an act the group claimed enabled the diversion of state resources worth over ₦600 billion.

In a strongly worded statement issued on Sunday, October 12, 2025, Alimi described the allegations as “a lie of the highest order”, stating that he was never at any time under administrative bail by any anti-graft agency.

"While I see and regard this as another pathologically laden mischief and blackmail which will not in any way be a matter of concern to me, it will, however, be out of place for me to keep quiet by not offering a cogent denial," Alimi said.

He further asserted that the publication was orchestrated by political detractors who are “desperately attempting to tarnish his image” due to his growing public influence.

"At no time or the other was I under any administrative bail by any anti-graft agency while serving as Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs under the administration of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, and even now as falsely alleged by the so-called human rights group," he stated.

The Commissioner concluded by declaring his readiness to face any investigation, reaffirming his commitment to transparency and accountability in public service.
