Kano State Health Sector Leaders Hold 8th DMCSA Quarterly Review Meeting

The Drugs and Medical Consumables Supply Agency (DMCSA) has successfully conducted its 8th Quarterly Review Meeting at the agency’s conference hall, bringing together key health stakeholders to evaluate progress and strengthen collaboration across the sector.

The meeting was chaired by the Hon. Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, who commended the agency’s continued efforts toward ensuring the efficient management and distribution of medical supplies in Kano State.

In attendance were the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Pharm. Aminu Bashir, and heads of major health agencies including the Director-General of the State Primary Health Care Management Board (SPHCMB), Prof. Salisu Ibrahim Ahmad; Director-General, Kano State Agency for the Control of AIDS (KSACA), Dr. Usman Bashir; Director, Kano State Centre for Disease Control (KNCDC), Prof. Muhammad Abbas; and the Executive Secretary, Hospital Management Board (HMB), Dr. Mansur Mudi Nagoda.

Also present were the Executive Secretary, Kano State Health Trust Fund (KHETFUND), Dr. Fatima Usman Zahraddeen; Executive Secretary, Kano State Contributory Health Management Agency (KSCHMA), Dr. Rahila Aliyu Mukhtar; and the Acting Director-General, Private Health Institutions Management Agency (PHIMA), Hajiya Khadijah Sa’id.

The meeting equally featured participation from key directors within the Ministry and its parastatals, zonal and chief medical directors, program officers, and notable development partners including the UK Government’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) Lafiya Programme, Capacity for Sustainable Development (C4SD), Kaizen Institute, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), Africa Resource Center for Excellence in Supply Management (ARC-ESM), and the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS).

The quarterly review served as a platform to assess achievements, identify challenges, and explore strategies for improving health service delivery, accountability, and sustainable development within the state’s healthcare system.
