The Forum of State Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held a crucial meeting on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at the PDP FCT Secretariat, Abuja, under the chairmanship of Sir Edward Percy Masha.

The meeting focused on strengthening internal unity, ensuring discipline among members, and preparing for the forthcoming National Elective Convention scheduled for November 15–16, 2025.

In a communiqué released after the session, the Forum condemned what it described as undemocratic attempts by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to intimidate and pressure PDP leaders across the country. The body warned that such actions threaten Nigeria’s democracy and could lead to a one-party system if unchecked.

The Forum also expressed concern over the conduct of two of its members—Hon. Austine Nwachukwu (Imo) and Hon. Amah Abraham Nnana (Abia)—who allegedly sought a court injunction to halt the upcoming convention. Their actions were described as an act of sabotage and a betrayal of party trust. Consequently, both members were suspended from the Forum.

Edo State Chairman, Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, was appointed as the new Chairman of the PDP State Chairmen Forum, taking over leadership responsibilities from Sir Edward Percy Masha.

The Forum further passed a vote of confidence in the National Working Committee (NWC), the PDP Governors’ Forum, and other statutory organs of the party. It reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the leadership in rebuilding and repositioning the PDP as Nigeria’s leading opposition platform.

The meeting, attended by 25 state chairmen physically and several others virtually, also called on party members nationwide to remain calm, united, and focused on the collective goal of reclaiming political strength ahead of the 2027 general elections.
