The Abia State Government has alerted residents to a false message circulating online, claiming that a State and Local Government Pension Verification Exercise would commence on Wednesday, October 16, 2025. The Ministry of Information clarified that the purported exercise is not scheduled for this year and that the referenced verification actually took place in 2024.

The government urged pensioners and the public to disregard the misinformation and not to attend any purported verification venues. Authorities emphasized that no official pension verification exercise is planned at this time and warned against falling victim to misleading notices.

The Abia State Government reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of pensioners, transparency, and due process in pension administration, advising citizens to rely only on verified government communication channels for accurate information.
