A suspected criminal was killed during a confrontation with a soldier on duty at the Delta Marine Logistics and Technical (DMLT) Estate in Warri, Delta State, on 13 October 2025. The incident occurred when the soldier, stationed at the estate gate, stopped a group of individuals attempting to enter the premises without proper clearance.
According to the 63 Brigade Headquarters, the situation escalated after the soldier questioned the group’s intentions and identities. The individuals became aggressive, leading to a physical altercation in which the soldier, acting in self-defense, injured one of the suspects. The injured man was taken to a nearby hospital but was later pronounced dead.
The Otu-Jeremi Police Division in Delta State was immediately notified to investigate the incident. The Brigade emphasized the importance of compliance with security checks and reiterated its commitment to upholding the fundamental rights of citizens while performing statutory duties.
