The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has responded sharply to remarks made by journalist and politician Mr. Dele Momodu, describing him as a “serial political tourist” who has no moral ground to lecture others on political strategy.
In a strongly worded statement issued by the Lagos APC Spokesman, Hon. (Mogaji) Seye Oladejo, the party said Momodu’s recent comments urging opposition figures to adopt an ethnic-based political strategy were both misguided and outdated.
“While we thank him for finally admitting the obvious — that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains politically unstoppable — we must question the audacity and credentials of a man whose political history is nothing but a tale of misadventures and failed auditions for relevance,” the statement read.
Oladejo described Momodu’s political journey as one “loud on commentary but empty on substance,” claiming that his relevance is confined largely to social media and not grounded in grassroots political realities.
“It is sheer comic relief that a man whose political influence exists mainly on social media timelines now presumes to dictate the opposition’s roadmap to 2027. Nigerians know that leadership is earned through vision, performance, and consistency — not through editorials written from the sidelines of social gigs,” he added.
The Lagos APC spokesman emphasized that Nigeria’s electorate has moved beyond ethnic politics, noting that the coming general elections will be decided based on competence and performance rather than divisive rhetoric.
Oladejo highlighted the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, pointing to ongoing reforms in infrastructure, economic stability, and social investment as evidence of leadership built on inclusion and results.
“Under President Tinubu, Nigeria is being rebuilt on the foundation of equity, inclusion, and reform. Leadership is about ideas, not identity,” he stated.
He concluded by advising the opposition to focus on credible policy alternatives rather than relying on what he termed “political showmanship” and untested advisers.
“If the opposition truly seeks guidance, the first counsel they should heed is to stop listening to those who have never won even a councillorship election,” Oladejo said.
The statement closed with the assertion that the 2027 elections will be a referendum on competence, insisting that Nigerians are ready to reward tangible results over sentiment.
