The Senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, Sunday Marshall Katung, has strongly condemned the attack on the Zonkwa Police Division, headquarters of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area, which resulted in the tragic death of two police officers.
In a statement released on Sunday, Senator Katung described the incident as “wicked, barbaric, and reprehensible,” stressing that such acts of violence against security personnel must be unequivocally condemned by all Nigerians.
He lamented that the attack was a direct affront to the sacrifices made daily by security operatives in their effort to protect lives and property, despite the challenging conditions under which they serve.
“Most disturbing is the dangerous affront on the lives of our police officers and security personnel who, day after day, endure the most excruciating circumstances in their commitment to safeguarding Nigerians,” Senator Katung stated.
The lawmaker urged security agencies to intensify efforts to identify, track, and apprehend the perpetrators, emphasizing that justice must be served swiftly to deter future attacks.
Expressing his heartfelt condolences, Senator Katung sympathized with the families of the slain officers and the entire Nigeria Police Force, praying for the repose of their souls and divine comfort for their loved ones.
“My deepest condolences go to the families of the deceased officers, as well as to the entire Police Force. I pray that God grants the departed officers eternal rest and give their families the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” he added.
He also appealed to residents of Zonkwa and neighbouring communities to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperative with security agencies as efforts continue to restore peace and bring the attackers to justice.
The lawmaker reaffirmed his commitment to advocating stronger security frameworks in Southern Kaduna, calling for unity among communities in the face of recurring violence.
The attack has drawn widespread reactions from residents, who continue to express frustration over repeated violence in the region and demand stronger government action beyond condemnations.
