Deputy Senate President Senator Barau Jibrin has assured Nigerians that the era of travelling abroad for medical treatment will soon come to an end as the Federal Government intensifies efforts to revamp the nation’s health sector.
Senator Jibrin, while speaking on the government’s renewed healthcare agenda, said the target is to equip hospitals across Nigeria with modern facilities and provide adequate welfare for medical professionals to ensure quality healthcare delivery for all citizens.
“Our goal is to make our hospitals so good that Nigerians will no longer need to travel to Egypt or India for medical treatment,” he said. “We have the human resources and expertise to transform our health sector if we invest properly.”
He emphasized that with sustained investment in infrastructure, training, and technology, Nigeria could become a medical hub in Africa, capable of retaining local patients and attracting international ones.
Senator Jibrin further called on both public and private stakeholders to collaborate in building a stronger, self-reliant healthcare system that restores confidence in local medical institutions and reduces the nation’s dependence on foreign healthcare services.
