The Southern Kaduna Renaissance Front (SKRF) has cautioned against the politicization of the “Northern Christians” identity, describing recent attempts to exploit it for narrow political gains as divisive and detrimental. The group, in a statement issued by its Secretary-General, Pastor Jerome Akyasa Waziri, in Kaduna on Thursday, also expressed support for the reported strategic alignment of Senator Sunday Marshall Katung with the Bola Tinubu-led federal government.

The SKRF raised concern over a recent publication by Privilege Magazine, Abuja, titled “Northern Christians Mobilize for Tinubu, Demand Senator Danjuma Laah’s Return to the Senate,” warning that such claims distort public perception and undermine ongoing progress in Southern Kaduna. The group emphasized that the identity of Northern Christians should not be manipulated for personal political ambitions, noting that the so-called Northern Christians Network for Sustainable Development (NCN-SD) lacks credibility and does not reflect the collective views of the community, particularly in the Kaduna South Senatorial District.

Highlighting the developmental gains achieved under the current collaboration, the SKRF pointed to a series of projects driven by the partnership between Senator Katung, Senator Uba Sani, and President Bola Tinubu. These initiatives include the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia, the Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan, and the ongoing Kafanchan–Madakiya–Madauchi Road, alongside other interventions across Kauru and neighboring local government areas. According to the group, these projects signal a transformative period of cooperation, progress, and inclusive development in Southern Kaduna.

The SKRF further recalled resolutions from the Young Persons Political Conference held on September 17, 2025, where youth delegates unanimously endorsed Senator Katung’s collaboration with the ruling party and encouraged strategic realignment with the federal government to sustain peace, stability, and growth in the region.

While acknowledging the contributions of past leaders such as Senator Danjuma Laah, the SKRF condemned attempts to weaponize religion or appropriate the Northern Christians identity for political resurgence, stressing that such actions threaten unity and undermine ongoing development. The group urged residents of Southern Kaduna to remain vigilant against pseudo-religious organizations claiming to speak for the community and called on the public to critically assess politically motivated publications.

The SKRF concluded by reaffirming its commitment to accountability, good governance, and the continued support of initiatives that enhance the prosperity and cohesion of Southern Kaduna under the Tinubu administration.
