Abuja, Nigeria – The Australian High Commission in Nigeria recently hosted members of the Nigeria–Australia Parliamentary Friendship Group at a gathering organized by Carneval Official, fostering dialogue and networking over premium Australian beef and lamb.
The meeting built on exchanges at the recent Interparliamentary Union session in Geneva and covered topics including parliamentary diplomacy, education, mining, and sports.
The High Commission also congratulated Nigerian athletes in Australia’s rugby league squad, noting the country’s Green Falcons team reaching the final of the Rugby League World Series in Canada, which included four Nigerian-Australian players—a milestone in Nigeria–Australia sporting relations.
Special recognition was given to Hon. Mohammed Inuwa Bassi (Chair), Hon. Amino Jamo (Deputy Chair), and Clerk Udo Umekwe for their support, with plans for more regular engagements and collaborative initiatives between both countries’ parliamentary groups.
