The Kano State Police Command has successfully apprehended two notorious armed robbers involved in car snatching and violent robberies, recovering a Ford Escape vehicle stolen from an Air Force officer in Abuja.

The incident occurred in the early hours of October 29, 2025, when armed assailants invaded a residence in Karu, Abuja, seizing money, mobile phones, and the officer’s vehicle at gunpoint. Intelligence indicated that the suspects were fleeing towards Kano State, prompting the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad to intercept the vehicle along the Kano-Zaria Expressway near Salbas Filling Station.

During the operation, the suspects engaged in a gunfight with police operatives, resulting in the arrest of two individuals:

  • Adamu Adam Abubakar, of Zoo Road, Kano

  • Umar Bello, of Nasarawa Dirkania, Kaduna State

Both men were inside the recovered vehicle at the time of arrest. However, one accomplice, identified only as Dan Malam, managed to escape with a pistol and some of the stolen items and remains at large.

CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, commended the Intelligence Unit of Force Headquarters Abuja and the Command’s operatives for their swift response and operational efficiency. He urged citizens to continue providing timely information to assist the police in combating insecurity and assured that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect.

This successful operation highlights the Kano State Police Command’s commitment to tackling armed robbery and protecting lives and property across the state.
