In a renewed push under Operation Lafiya Nakowa, troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army / Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have intensified clearance operations across Taraba State, successfully dismantling a major bandits’ camp and restoring calm in affected communities.

Acting on credible intelligence, the troops launched a coordinated clearance patrol on Friday, October 31, 2025, targeting Unom, Yongogba, Tornyi, and Mbayongo villages in Takum Local Government Area. The operation extended through Tor-Tser, Kofar Ahmadu, Tornyi, Unom, Mbayongo, and Yongogba, with adjoining settlements and river lines cleared of criminal elements.

During the advance, troops received intelligence reports that bandits were regrouping near TY Farm in Tati. Acting swiftly, the soldiers projected combat power through Sabon Gida Tati and made contact with the fleeing criminals. Overpowered by superior firepower, the bandits abandoned their positions and escaped into the forest.

On further exploitation, the troops discovered and destroyed a major bandits’ camp at TY Farm, denying the criminals a strategic hideout. A Dane gun and other operational items were recovered during the sweep.

The Commander of 6 Brigade / Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, praised the troops for their gallantry, professionalism, and swift execution of orders during the operation. He reiterated the Brigade’s unwavering commitment to sustaining peace and security across Taraba State.

“Our troops remain resolute in ensuring that bandits and terrorist elements find no safe haven within our area of responsibility,” Brig. Gen. Uwa stated. “We urge residents to continue providing timely and credible intelligence to support ongoing security efforts.”

The operation marks another significant success in the Nigerian Army’s continuous campaign to flush out criminal networks and restore public confidence across the North-East and North-Central corridors.
