The National Sports Commission, in collaboration with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China and key stakeholders, marked the closing of the Chinese Ambassador’s Cup Wushu Championship at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja. The ceremony celebrated the exceptional performances of Nigerian Wushu athletes across various categories, highlighting the growth of martial arts in the country.
Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, alongside NSC Director General Bukola Olopadee, the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, H.E. Y. Dunhai, and the Permanent Secretary of the Social Development Secretariat, FCT, Olubunmi Olowookere, presented medals to the athletes. During the event, Dikko emphasized the Commission’s dedication to strengthening sports diplomacy, promoting international cooperation, and expanding Nigeria’s engagement in disciplines that encourage cultural exchange and youth development.
Olopadee expressed excitement over the partnership with the Chinese Embassy, noting that the championship aligns with the Commission’s RHINSE campaign, which exposes athletes to high-level competitions and fosters growth in sports. The NSC reaffirmed its commitment to advancing collaborations that nurture talent, elevate sporting standards, and position Nigeria as a hub for global sports excellence.
