In a moment of national pride, David Beckham has been awarded a Knighthood by His Majesty The King, recognizing his outstanding contributions to football and humanitarian efforts. In a heartfelt statement, Beckham described the day as “truly humbling”, expressing gratitude for the recognition and reflecting on a career built on passion, dedication, and service.
Beckham recounted his journey from local youth clubs such as Ridgeway Rovers to top international teams including Manchester United, Preston North End, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, and, of course, the England national team. He credited his success to the support of managers, teammates, and loyal fans, emphasizing that representing his country remained “the proudest moment” of his career.
Beyond the pitch, Beckham highlighted his commitment to charitable work, noting collaborations with UNICEF, the Royal Foundation, and the King’s Foundation, as well as engagement with the Armed Forces, citing the importance of supporting children and inspiring future generations.
The knighthood also held personal significance. Beckham dedicated the honour to his family, acknowledging the influence of his parents, grandparents, and his wife of 28 years. He also celebrated his children as his “greatest joy and inspiration”.
Reflecting on the recognition, he said: “I could never have dreamed that this would happen to me… all I have ever wanted to do is make my family proud. Finally Mum, Dad, Victoria, and to my kiddies — can you believe this? I love you all so much, and thank you.”
